Recording and transcribing business calls

How to turn it on per number, what it costs, and the consent rules to know first.

Short answer

Turn on recording and live transcription per number in its call route. Recording is 0.3¢ a minute and transcription 1.11¢ a minute, both lower at volume. Some US states require every party on a call to consent to recording, so play a notice at the start of the call.

Turning it on

Set recordCalls and liveTranscription on the number's route with PUT /v1/numbers/:id/route, or flip them in the console. Recordings are available from /v1/calls/:id/recording.

Federal law and most states allow recording when one party consents. Several states require everyone on the call to agree. The simplest approach is a short notice in your greeting. This is general information, not legal advice.

Questions

Can I record only some numbers?

Yes. Recording is set per number, so the sales line can record while another line doesn't.
